VILLAGE OF DVORJE
The Menart Apartments are located in the small, traditional Gorenjska village of Dvorje (NW Slovenia). The village is surrounded by forests, fields and hills. In the past, the inhabitants of the village of Dvorje were engaged in agriculture and crafts. One of the particularly important crafts was carpentry. The Košnik family, who run the Apart hotel, has also been engaged in carpentry for more than 30 years, which is also reflected in the apartments themselves. They boast architecture and massively made furniture, which are inspired by the history of the estate and nature. The desire of the owner family is that the architecture itself is in harmony with the traditional Gorenjska architecture. The massive interior furniture reflects the high quality of living, experience and adventure.
HISTORY
The name Menart originates from the 19th century, when members of the Podjed family, locally known as Pr’ Menart, lived in the house. The homestead is still known by this name today. In the past, it was a fort of Strmol Castle. These forts were used to store crops and tools that were used to supply the castle. Given the size of the estate, we can assume that this was one of the larger forts that supplied the castle and its surroundings with wood and agricultural produce. There is also a short forest path leading from the estate to the castle. The later owner of the castle, Rado Hribar, helped our family during the internment during World War II. Hribar got along well with the Germans and asked the German headquarters in Bled not to relocate the family. The historical connection and proximity to the castle inspired us to turn part of the estate into an apartment complex and preserve the memory of those times.
THE KOŠNIK FAMILY
The idea and vision were formed by Janez Košnik in his youth. At the age of twenty-four, he started a carpentry business. Now that his older son David is increasingly taking over the management of the workshop, father Janko has embarked on his dream and started planning and building apartments. The construction itself was of course not without challenges. Due to changes in building laws, it was necessary to change the plans, which also affected the higher financial investment. There was also a lot of coordination with contractors. At that time, there was also the Covid epidemic, which made us much more uncertain about the project itself, as we no longer knew how it would affect tourism and travel habits. But despite the difficulties, the Košnik family stood together and persevered, bringing the project to completion. The entire family, parents and four children, are involved in running the apartments. Father Janko sees this project as a legacy to his children and grandchildren.
APARTMENTS
The building is located at the foot of the forest. There is also a spring of clean water in the forest, which comes to the surface just before entering the estate. The spring water is “living water”, which contains a lot of minerals and oxygen, which will invigorate you and fill you with additional energy. There are no harmful impurities in the spring water, as it is not treated with chlorine and ozone. In addition to drinking, it is also recommended to wash with spring water, as it makes the skin firmer and slows down aging. Nature will not only accompany you around the apartments, but also inside them, as a lot of solid wood and stones are used in combination with gold. The richly furnished 4-star apartments offer everything you need for a peaceful stay in a luxurious atmosphere. The atmosphere and the quality of the solid wooden furniture are what sets our apartments apart from the rest.

The biggest contribution is made by family management and involvement in the apartments, which greatly influences the attitude towards you, our guests. We try and want you to feel welcome and your stay to be comfortable. The boutique nature of the apartments allows for greater customization and attention to guests. We are happy to help you with surprises for your loved ones, celebrations, preparations for seminars… We advise on how to get there and what to see, we help with logistical hassles, etc. However, since our goal is also to connect with the local community and enable guests to get to know the environment, we have connected with food providers and prepared the option of a local breakfast for you. You can have breakfast in the intimacy of your apartment or in the shared dining room. With a rich and nutritious breakfast, you will get enough energy to explore the surrounding areas, or you can also go on a trip to Ljubljana (30km), Bled (37km), Bohinj (60km) and Kranjska Gora, Velika Planina (36km), etc. The apartments are also located in the immediate vicinity of the smaller Krvavec ski resort, suitable for both beginners and more experienced skiers. In the summer, it is an ideal spot for walks and adrenaline activities.
